In as much as the 2016 AHPOA Board of Directors would like to encourage and recognize exemplary contributions to our community, The Aquia Harbour Community Service Award is created.
 
Eligibility  
The Aquia Harbour Community Service Award nomination and/or recipient can be any AHPOA employee, Aquia Harbour resident, community group, committee or business who contributes above and beyond to the betterment of our community.
 
Criteria
A.  Has provided long-term support or contribution or multiple incidents of exemplary service to the community of Aquia Harbour.
B.  Has, in a single act or event service or heroism, kept our community safe or enhanced the quality of life for residents in a substantial way.
C.  Other.  
 
Restrictions
Active Board Directors are not eligible to receive a nomination, but past Board Directors are eligible. There is not a requirement for the AHPOA Board of Directors to issue this award nor is there any limit to the number of times in a calendar year it can be given.  It should, however, be given judiciously to maintain its prominence.
 
Protocol
Any Active Member of the AHPOA, the General Manager, AHPOA employee or current Board Director may submit a nomination.
 
The nomination must also be co-sponsored by a current AHPOA Board Director.
 
Nominations may be submitted at any time via a current Director.  It must include a detailed summary of the contribution, criteria category, name, address and phone number of the nominee and the name of the Board Member co-sponsoring the nomination.  
 
Nominations will be noted at the first Work Session following the nomination.  
 
They will be reviewed in Open Session at the next regular Board Meeting except if General Manager has deemed the information to be sensitive in nature.  In this case, it will be reviewed in Executive Session.  The Board will vote in Open Session. If the vote is in the affirmative, the recipient will be notified and the plaque or other amenity will be presented at the next regular Board Meeting. Funds will be made available from the General Fund within the constraints of the Bylaws.  A summary draft will be prepared by staff for the presentation.  In the case of an employee, a copy of the summary draft will be included in their employee file.
