Aquia Harbour Pre-school (AHPS) was founded in 1978 in a private home with eight students. Since then it has grown into a program offering classes for 3 and 4 year olds taught by a certified Teacher and a classroom Aide.

AHPS is a non-profit cooperative (co-op) association whose existence depends solely upon the support of its membership. Parents are responsible for the organization and the administration of the school. A co-op recognizes that parents are the primary educators of the young child and, in return for the parent's work and commitment, provides the opportunity to share in their child's first academic experience and steps toward independence.
  • Who is eligible to enroll? - Residents and Non-residents.
  • When do classes register? - Open registration begins the first weekend in February for the upcoming school year. Priority is given to returning families, then residents of Aquia Harbour. Waiting lists are available for each class. Interested families are urged to submit their child's name as soon as possible. Openings do occasionally occur throughout the school year.
  • What time are the classes? - The 3 year olds meet Tuesday and Thursday, either 9:00 to noon, or 12:30 to 3:30. The 4 year olds meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the same times.
  • Where is the pre-school? - The school is located next door to the Business Office, with a playground in the same area.
  • How much is tuition? - Monthly tuition is $95 for the 3 year olds, and $110 for the 4 year olds. The annual registration fee is $50 per child, as well as a $30 supply fee.  The school's annual co-op fee is $120, and is returned to the family at the end of the school year when the family meets its co-op requirements. All fees subject to change.
