May 8, 2007: The Mid-Potomac Power Squadron, the local chapter of the United States Power Squadrons, invites you to bring your old and tattered flags and present them to Boy Scout Troop 840 at the Squadron’s general membership Meeting, May 8, 2007 at 7:30 PM at the AHPOA Harbour Inn. The program for the evening will include a brief presentation from Troop 840, regarding the flag retirement ceremony, as well as information concerning the National Safe Boating Week, which will be coming up 19 – 25 May 2007.
May 19 – 25 is National Safe Boating Week, and the Mid-Potomac Squadron of the United States Power Squadrons will be participating by conducting free Vessel Safety Checks on Saturday and Sunday, May 19 & 20 at the Aquia Harbour, and Aquia Bay Marinas. There will be hot dogs and soda (at nominal cost) for attendees at the AH marina and coloring books for children wearing life jackets. Sea Vester, the USPS mascot, will be there to teach children about boating safety and Squadron members will be available to discuss upcoming boating classes and distribute boating literature.
