My wife and I have been property owners in Aquia Harbour for over 21 years. I am in the final year of my second term on the Board (and am not seeking re-election). It is time for others to bring their ideas, concerns, and energies to the Board. They will receive my support and encouragement and deserve yours too.
This community has many favorable aspects that make it a great place for raising a family or enjoying the benefits of an empty nest. Of course there are issues within our community; however, in the grand scheme of life the issues in Aquia Harbour are relatively minor (ongoing renovations of the infrastructure, improving the upkeep of our common assets, and enforcing individual property maintenance to community standards). Our Board, Association staff, and volunteers work hard for the entire association. They are open to members concerns and are available to discuss any AHPOA topics. Reach out and become informed on what is going on in YOUR community.

My family and I have lived in Aquia Harbour for 6 years. My interest in serving as a Director with the AHPOA stems from my concern of and interest in the community as a parent, professional, neighbor and homeowner. I value the rescue squad, police force, the potential for improved security, and all the amenities our community has to offer. I believe that “community supported” solutions could be paved out with an open mind and dialog through effective, consistent and updated communication. I am the Executive Director of the Academy of Radiology Research and the President of the Coalition for Imaging and Bioengineering Research. Additionally, I am a patient advocate for juvenile diabetes research and have founded and manage support groups for women who live active fulfilling lives with type 1 diabetes. My husband and I enjoy raising our child in Aquia Harbour and have a vested interest in its future as a close knit, safety minded and family/friends oriented community. Since serving on the Board we have met some amazing life long friends, which goes to show that the more you invest into your community, the more you get out of it.

I have been a resident of the Harbour since March 1982. I have undergraduate and graduate degrees (accounting, financial management) and 33 years management experience (retired Naval Officer/civil service) in the full spectrum of comptroller duties (planning, budgeting, accounting, contracting, auditing/internal review, payroll, management/efficiency studies). I have been a member of our golf course since the day I moved here and have served or serving on the golf, finance and legal compliance committees. As a member of your Board of Directors I want to ensure we do the right thing right in the most efficient and cost effective manner possible.
