David Humphrey - President

My family and I moved into Aquia Harbour in the spring of 1986. We moved here for the wide variety of amenities and the security offered within the Harbour. My children were involved in the swim team and the junior golf program and went boating frequently. I feel the Harbour has so much to offer and along with that a real feeling of community. Currently, I am an active member of the Beautification Committee, the Legal Compliance Committee and I am working with the Food Bank at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. I also work to raise funds for a scholarship in my daughter's memory. I can dedicate the time necessary to improve Aquia Harbour as a community and to support all its amenities.

My family and I moved to the neighborhood after being transferred here like many of you who make the Harbour your home.  I became involved in the neighborhood shortly thereafter.  I currently serve on the Marina, Dog Park, and assist the Communications Committee on a regular basis.
I am committed to saving the residents money and have spent considerable time researching and writing grants for the Harbour.  I have obtained grants for a new pump-out system saving residents over $10,000, obtained three desktop and eight laptop computers for the Police Department and wrote another grant for life jackets to be loaned to children who plan to be around the water.
I believe the wide array of amenities in this community make this place special.  There are no other neighborhoods quite like ours in the area.  I want to ensure our amenities are maintained and improved, so Aquia Harbour will remain the premier community.

My wife and I have been property owners in Aquia Harbour for 15 years. I am like the majority of property owners who seek a reasonable approach to maintaining all the association's assets while sufficiently funding our reserves. We need consensus on the timing and funding of any amenity repairs we have to perform in the short term. We can then prioritize and program desirable improvements through long range planning. I have managed large scale infrastructure projects and have experience in property owner association operations. I am willing to commit the time and effort necessary to responsibly perform the duties of a director.

My family and I have lived in Aquia Harbour for 6 years. My interest in serving as a Director with the AHPOA stems from my concern of and interest in the community as a parent, professional, neighbor and homeowner. I value the rescue squad, police force, the potential for improved security, and all the amenities our community has to offer. I believe that “community supported” solutions could be paved out with an open mind and dialog through effective, consistent and updated communication. I am the Executive Director of the Academy of Radiology Research and the President of the Coalition for Imaging and Bioengineering Research. Additionally, I am a patient advocate for juvenile diabetes research and have founded and manage support groups for women who live active fulfilling lives with type 1 diabetes. My husband and I enjoy raising our child in Aquia Harbour and have a vested interest in its future as a close knit, safety minded and family/friends oriented community. Since serving on the Board we have met some amazing life long friends, which goes to show that the more you invest into your community, the more you get out of it.
