My family and I moved to the neighborhood
after being transferred here like many of you who make the Harbour your home. I
became involved in the neighborhood shortly after moving here. I currently
serve on the Marina and Dog Park Committees, and assist the Communications
Committee on a regular basis.
I am committed to saving the residents money and have spent considerable time
researching and writing grants for the Harbour. I have obtained grants for a
new pump-out system saving residents over $10,000, obtained three desk top and
eight lap top computers for the Police Department and recently completed a grant
for life jackets to be loaned to children who plan to be around the water. A
recent grant I wrote for over $2,000,000 was selected by the State of Virginia
to compete on the national level for Federal funds. We hope to hear the results
very soon!
In between grant writing and serving on the various committees, I have been
working with a group of committed Harbour residents to start a dog park for the
community. We have already selected a site and are currently working on the
next steps. I have also been organizing a tennis group here in the Harbour for
singles and doubles play.
This past August my work was highlighted on the radio and in the Stafford County
Sun Newspaper when I served as Flotilla Coordinator and liaison to the Stafford
Department of Tourism for Discovery Days. The event brought the historic tall
sailing ship the Godspeed to Aquia Landing Park which attracted over 10,000
people.
I believe the wide array of amenities in this community make this place
special. There are no other neighborhoods quite like ours in the area. I want
to ensure our amenities are maintained and improved, so Aquia Harbour will
remain the premier community.
I'd appreciate your vote to serve the on the Board of Directors, so I may
continue to make a difference here.
