John Reinboldt - Director AHBOD

July 2003

Aquia Harbour had another wonderful 4th of July Parade this year. Our thanks to all the participants and to the volunteers who helped, and especially to Stan Johnson who took on the brunt of organizing the parade this year.

We hade a very large turnout of marchers and spectators. Parade participants included; The Aquia Harbour Volunteer Rescue Squad, Widewater Volunteer Fire Department, the Corvette Club, Antique Cars, Motorcycles, Golf Carts, Jeeps, the Aquia Harbour Dolphins Swim Team on a float and last but not least, 4 riders on some beautiful horses. The rout was marked with American Flags placed there by the Troup 840 Boy Scouts. Of course the main attraction is the hundred plus children on bikes or in wagons all decorated for the 4th. ?Along the rout well wishers waved and then joined everyone at the Lions Park for the games, Balloon Animals, free cotton Candy and Popcorn. A special thanks to the Lions Club for being there with the Soda, Hotdogs and adult beverages. I look forward to next year?s parade.

Now on to some issues for your consideration:

?

The Second Gate has eluded us since the inception of Aquia Harbour. It still does!

A draft referendum for the October election is in this issue of the Harbour View. Please review it. Feel free to send your comments to me (john@reinboldt.com) or use our website www.aquiaharbour.org.

The Trash Service has also been a challenge. The new contractor we selected failed to execute. We re-contracted with Waste Management, but there are some changes. Monday and Thursday trash pick ups will also include yard waste. Recyclables will continue to be picked up on Mondays. The major change is Bulk pick ups. We no longer have a Bulk pick up on Wednesday. We are looking at various alternatives. Please use the Stafford County Dump (it?s free) until we can establish a new policy.

The Tennis Courts on Washington Drive are in the midst of a major rebuild and should be ready for your play by the time you read this article

The Harbour Inn Pool has been a major topic of discussion lately. The Harbour Inn Pool has far exceeded its anticipated life span and is showing its age by the needing constant and costly repairs. The Aquia Harbour Board of Directors through the Pool Committee is attempting to ascertain the resident?s preferences for specific features of a new pool. Please look for our survey to enlist your suggestions. At this point the intention is to mail them out. We will also have survey forms at the business office as well as the ability for you to do a survey on line. Your comments are critical to our success.

The Storage Facility is nearing completion. We should have secure storage available next to the Stables by early this fall. Please contact the Business Office to be put on the list. I understand there is little space available at this point, so please contact us as soon as possible.

As always I am interested in your feedback and suggestions. Please free to email me on any issue you choose. john@reinboldt.com?? HAVE A SUPER SUMMER!!!
