Volunteerism is alive and well in Aquia Harbour! The Lions Club has done it again. Over the years the Lions Club has done many good deeds in the Harbour. The Shelters at Friendship Park and The Lions Park are but two which go with all their other charitable works. Last week the Lions club donated $1,500 to the Harbour. It is very obvious to me that if you are looking for an opportunity to do good deeds, while having a good time with good people, The Lions Club is the place to be.
Yes we are going to install fencing around parts of Aquia Harbour. Although the specifics are still being worked out, I believe an 8ft chain link fence is in our future. If this comes as a surprise to you, please drive to Pilgrim Cove and look at the construction just over the Harbour property line. I am sure you will understand.
4th of July Parade
We are going to have a great parade this year. Escorting all the children on their decorated bicycles, tricycles, wagons and buggies will be the Stafford County Police Honor Guard, the Widewater Volunteer Fire Department, the Corvette Club, the Antique Car Club of Fredericksburg, Riders from the Saddle Club and much, much more. We are also trying to organize a bicycle rodeo. The police department normally organizes this with the focus on safety. Please wave at our 4 very special Grand Marshals. The parade will kick off at 10:00am at the Harbour Inn, please be there by 9:30. Tina Klauser’s article will have more information, as does Chuck Halt on the Aquia Harbour web page. http://aquiaharbour.org/html/managers_page.html
This is still a big issue among the residents who are emailing me. Please continue to do so. I am trying to get a sense of what the majority wants to do. The CVO (compliance Violation Officer) in its current configuration is very limited. That is to say the CVO primarily reacts to complaints from residents, rather than being pro-active. One suggestion that I received explored tasking the Aquia Harbour Police force with additional responsibilities. While our officers are patrolling the neighborhood they could take note of obvious infractions, and then follow up on the compliance. What do you think?
