Spring is definitely here. As I write this article the blooms on the trees
seem to be at peak color. The Shad and Herring are running up the creek
joining
the Crappie, Blue Gill, Catfish and Largemouth Bass that call Aquia Creek
home. For those of you that enjoying birding, the Bald Eagles and Ospreys
are of particularly fun to watch this time of year as they fish the creek.
It's a wonderful time to get out and take advantage of all the amenities
that make the Harbour such a nice a place to live.
On to Harbour business.
Harbour Pools
Our crack Building Maintenance staff of Don McElheny and Ray Pittman are
working diligently to get our pools ready for the summer season. Of
particular note is the new lighting system installed at the Harbour In pool.
This will be a wonderful addition for the pool parties that are so popular.
Once our pool manager is hired, you will be able to make reservations.
I have been concerned about the pool maintenance and upkeep. After reviewing pool maintenance companies and discussing the issue with many individuals who have significant pool management experience, we determined that we could do better on our own.
May 1st is the scheduled opening of the Clubhouse Restaurant. A Mother’s Day special is planned. Call 659-5566 for more info. I’ll see you there!
If not, you should give it a try! Our cart paths have never been so nice. Our course is the “ best deal around.” A FAMILY MEMBERSHIP is ONLY $300.00. This is an exceptional value. Call our manager Terry Ryalls at 659-4478 for additional rates.
Our web site, www.aquiaharbour.org is continuing to improve. Kevin Henry (our web master) has requested information about some of the teams in the Harbour. As an example, information about our Aquia Harbour Dolphins (who went undefeated last year) will be posted as well as any information about other Harbour teams. I think it would be fun to see information about all of our sports and activities on the web page. Please contact Kevin through the web page. By the time you read this some new aerial pictures should be available on the web page, as should a Tide Chart for the Creek.
Make a note in your calendar for June 1st. A Hoarse show is planned, and it should be wonderful. I understand our Stable Manager Amy Daniels is a nationally ranked rider of “Morgans” and if all the ribbons hanging next to various horses in the barn are any guide,
their are plenty of champion horses and riders to watch. I understand that there are lessons available from some owners. Please call Amy at 659-5024 for further information. By the way, If you go down to look at some of those beautiful horses, Please don’t feed them or pet them without the owners permission.
Your input is very valuable. Please keep your notes coming. My email address is john@reinboldt.com I respond to all emails.
