What a wonderful winter so far! We have actually had snow for a change!!!! When we have snow the best place to sled, in my opinion, is the Driving Range at the Golf Course. Please ask your children to refrain from using the Golf Course proper and especially the Greens. It can be very expensive to repair the Golf greens so please, lets be careful out there!
Last month’s article brought some wonderful feed back. At the head of the list was:
Walking Paths
All respondents supported the walking paths, but there was some confusion about where they would be. The Aquia Harbour Web Page (www.aquiaharbour.org) has a map (select “map” from the jump gate) that illustrates the existing paths, and will have the future paths noted as well. My goal would be to connect Friendship Park on Aquia Drive in section three to Rudolph Park at the intersection of Voyage Drive and Aquia Drive. The next leg would be from Rudolph Park to Aquia Park in section two on Aquia Drive. The process would be to widen the road like we did in section one by the bridge. This is going to be a very long process but we need to make this happen soon. I am very concerned about the safety of our residents and especially children. Please look at the web page, and hopefully by the next printing of the Harbour View we can publish a map and a time line.
Storage Lots
One lot by the tennis courts in section one is accepting items. The other lots are still under construction. The very wet weather over the last couple of months has slowed us down. Anyone who has perked boats or trailers in the parking lots of Friendship, Rudolph or Aquia Park needs to call the office to arrange to store those items at the Section One storage lot. Please call the office to arrange for a space. 659-3050.
Strengthening By Laws
I have to admit getting some terse messages in regard to this topic. Most were positive but a few are worried that we are going to insist on some sort of standard that would infringe on their rights. Simply put, your home should not be an eyesore. Fortunately we have very few homes that fit this description. Our goal is to have none. Bingo
The responses are still coming in. Of the 648 responses, 345 would play, 295 would not play but only small amounts are against bingo. Friday and Saturday evening are the most popular evenings. This response will require us to gather additional information to better understand the opportunity. My position at this moment is that bingo can be a great way to have fun with the family and neighbors while earning money for use on the ball fields, pools and other amenities. The down sides that I see are four.
1) Manpower to run this project. There will have to be a very committed group of people to run this project.
2) The other is the location of the games. I would rather not use the Country Club or the Harbour Inn because of the significant wear and tear on these facilities. So where do we host them?
3) Smoking seems to be a controversial part of bingo. Should smoking be allowed or not?
4) Security would be an issue if we advertise for players outside the Harbour. It is my position that we don’t advertise outside the Harbour. If a guest of a resident wants to play that would be ok.
Please keep an eye on the message board at the entrance. Additional meetings are being planned for discussing the impact of committees in the Harbour. This is a very important issue. Please attend if you can. Since we are in the budget phase of the year, budget meetings are planned for most Wednesdays evenings. Please feel free to attend and offer your insight or help with the process. All are welcome and in fact are encouraged to attend. Please contact me with any questions or comments at john@reinboldt.com
