NOVEMBER 2005
NEWSLETTER
The skyrocketing
price of petroleum did more than drive up the price of
gasoline. Asphalt and the fuel to heat it went up
significantly. Thus, we had to scale back our paving plans and
recalculate this year?s program. We are back on track and the
paving should be complete as you read this. Restriping of all
repaved roads and major lanes should start within days. For all
those inconvenienced we apologize but the work had to be done as
several roads such as
Washington Drive could not
be put off any longer.
The FY
07 Budget Cycle has started (the fiscal year starts April 1,
2006). Far and away the largest expense during the year will be
the replacement of the Harbour Inn Pool. The design should be
approved momentarily and the project out for bid. Anticipate
the same basic configuration with added features to include: a
zero entry and steps in the shallow loop, a large water feature,
a larger baby pool with a water feature and some type of
shading, new decking and a rebuilt pump house. All plumbing and
wiring will be incorporated into the exterior walls.
The
back fields at
Briar
Patch
Park have been aerated, limed,
fertilized and over seeded. They are now being rested until
spring. If next year?s budget permits we will install a picnic
area with a shelter house on location.
When the board of
directors put forth a proposed Special Assessment this past
spring many members were critical and offered untold options and
ideas. We need those people to step forward and to get
involved. There are vacant positions on committees that sorely
need caring involved members. It was a shock when only two
members stepped up to run for the three open board positions. A
successful community requires involved members. Please let the
Business Office hear from you as a volunteer
The leaves are
falling and the first thought is to get them up. Please do not
rake them into the ditches. This causes serious problems and
endangers the roads. If you put them out for Waste Management
please be patient. Our trash contract is for household trash.
They have agreed to pick up leaves but it cannot always be done
with the regular trash pickup as it?s beyond their capability.
They will put on extra trucks as they can schedule them.
Recently we have
seen some vandalism such as trash totes being thrown against
mail boxes. If you see anything that even appears to be
suspicious please call the gate at 659-5224 or 659-7224. The
police would rather respond to a dozen suspicious calls than an
actual incident.
Weather indicators
point to a heavy snowfall this winter. Please keep vehicles
well back from the edge of the road. We hate burying cars in
snow or worse hitting them with the plow. A strong suggestion.
When shoveling your drive, around your mail box or parking pad
throw the snow to the right when looking from the house. That
will minimize the snow plows pushing it back into your cleared
area.
Having the large
dumpster at the Country Club one weekend a month is being
endangered by a few that abuse the opportunity. Waste
Management cannot take the dumpster if it contains hazardous
material or appliances containing refrigerant. Please take any
item in question to the landfill off
Eskimo Road as they will accept these
items from residents. |
